The Inspiration Behind Float on Your Little Cloud

Every mother knows the feeling of helplessness when trying to soothe a crying baby. In the spring of 2023, I found myself rocking my niece’s colicky newborn, Baby Kate, feeling that same deep longing to bring her comfort. Nothing seemed to work—until I remembered a lullaby from my own childhood.

It was a simple, gentle melody that my mother had sung to me, one I had continued to sing to my own boys whenever they needed peace. As I softly sang the song, I closed my eyes and let my heart drift on the clouds with Jesus. In that moment, a wave of peace washed over me like a warm, comforting blanket. And then, something incredible happened—Baby Kate calmed, too.

That moment of grace and serenity inspired me to write Float on Your Little Cloud—a story of love, faith, and the comforting presence of Jesus.
